As well as getting into acrylics, I’ve returned to whimsical illustrations recently too. I find the illustration to be less challenging and more enjoyable, but that might be because I’m not very good. But I do love the freedom in something that doesn’t have to look bang on.

I’m enjoying learning new techniques, but mostly I’m enjoying the brain space art gives me – the chance to breath outside myself, if that makes sense. I enjoy something ‘completed’, as well as stretching myself in new ways.

An addition to my palette has been gouache, which works very well with watercolours, and I’ve pulled a couple old watercolour pieces out to re-touch with the new medium. It’s all great fun.

Now I’m wondering what else to paint. Any ideas??
