Sometimes, the best laid plans can sour and impromptu last-minute ideas have the power to save the day.

This farm was ‘on our way’ to somewhere else, and we almost didn’t bother turning in. The boys weren’t enthused and I could’ve lived without it. But we made the effort and what a treat – a beautiful meadow, a farm shop, somewhere to play Pooh Sticks and a little bit of adventuring among the reeds to the sounds of “Swallows forever!”. We found ducklings and blossoms and beauty all around us. And of course, there was cake (there has to be cake!) and a cup of tea to top it off.

A lovely reminder that sometimes saying ‘yes’ to things can turn an OK day into an amazing one. Also, perhaps having no expectations may play a part in all this somewhere. A beautiful day was had.

  1. bliss! bliss! bliss! what a glorious spot! That beautiful stream! That beautiful house! That gable window – in there is actually my studio – well in my dreams that is. Looks like a lovely day 🙂
