I thought that title was probably one of my best puns. But then, my puns generally aren’t very punny.
Moving on. I had meant to have some nice pictures of projects I’ve been working on but either our connection or Mr Flickr is broken and so scones it is. Which is probably karma because I’ve been meaning to post this recipe fo’ EVA.
You Will Need ::
1LB SR FLour
Pinch of salt
2oz caster sugar
1/4 cup of dried milk powder
Almond flavouring (optional)
A handful of glace cherry (optional)
1 egg to glaze
1. Pre-heat oven to 200*C
2. Mix the flour and salt and rub in the butter til crumbs
3. Stir in the sugar, milk powder and milk (and any optional extras) and make a dough – the less you handle this the better the scones turn out. So try not to handle it too much.
4. Place on a floured surface and use hands to get the correct thickness – about 1/2″. Use an upside down cup to cut out round shapes.
5. Beat an egg to glaze the scones, brush on and place the scones in the oven for about 20mins depending on your oven and the size of scone.
Best served with homemade butter and jam – how-tos for both can be found on the tutorial page.
Really a simple straight forward make. My family love these, the milk powder really adds an extra something to them.
If you make some and want to share, please add to our Flickr Group – I would love to see you there!
**EDIT** I realise now that I’ve mixed three different types of measurement in that recipe – metric, imperial, and American – all I can say is – vive la différence!
